TN: 2014 Ultramarine Rosé Heintz Vineyard

Took this to Husk in Savannah last night to get an early look. Nice wine, good dinner, per usual.

Pretty pinkish-salmon color. The raspberry and strawberry notes are fleshier, fuller, creamier than I remember in past itierations, which seems contrarian to what was saignee in the past. Seems to be a lot in reserve in this one, and yet it is super light and lithe on the palate. There’s a refreshing acidity that cuts through and buffers the palate. Finishes with mousse and almost a cider-like quality. Feels like this one will be one to watch evolve for a bit.

Thanks for that note!

These are precious, so learning without killing one is helpful! champagne.gif

I hear that. I caved. For you. [wink.gif]

Cider-like?

Tart, green apple-fall fruit, drying. Maybe too strong to call it cider-like, but that’s where my mind went. Not a negative.

Thanks.

In some other threads a poster (I don’t recall who) has cited a bruised apple character, calling the wines flawed. (other vintages…)

Yep. I remember that. Not this.
