A bit of cringe when pouring. The deep amber color would normally be a disaster, though this producer would be the one safe house from the golden hue pre-oxidation gremlin, I was still worried. Unfounded, the bottle was completely sound and fresh. The transformation in the first 120 seconds this wine was poured in the glass was pretty remarkable in how quickly it came together. Lots of perfume floating around this guy, evoking orchard fruits that had a very rich and even savory quality at times. A bit of peat that I normally associate with the Rangen vineyard was certainly felt mid palate. A very slight drop off on the finish kept me from scoring this higher, but this was still darn good. Some perceived sweetness but still came across as dry, but flirting with the border. I think this is ready to go. (93 pts.)
