2012 Château Sénéjac (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc)

Surprisingly, Jeff Leve scored this higher than I did.

2012 Château Sénéjac - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc (1/2/2019)
– decanted one hour before initial taste –
– tasted non-blind over 2 to 3 hours –

NOSE: red-fruited; light mineral tones; no funk; not high-toned.

BODY: medium-light to medium bodied.

TASTE: definitely open; a touch of drying tannin here, but there’s not enough structure to suggest more ageing is in this wine’s best interests; light garrigué (notably not funky) – a bit herbal; not thick/big/overblown; medium-low to medium acidity; 13% alc. not noticeable; hint of mineral from the Nose is reflected on the palate; certainly not the best Senejac I’ve had, but it’s still a solid quaffer and an acceptable QPR at $15; seems best to Drink Now. gut impression score: mid 80’s
