TN: NV Gaston Chiquet Champagne Premier Cru Tradition Brut

NV Gaston Chiquet Champagne Premier Cru Tradition Brut - France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru (1/13/2019)
Served with steamed lobsters and butter, this showed very well, with ripe citrus fruit, ample acidity and a long finish that started fruity, and then picked up a deeper minerality.

Excellent value for a little under $40.

May 2017 disgorgement.

I love this wine. Always a favorite. I have a single magnum of this disgorgement.

Thank you for the note.

This is definitely one of the finest values in entry level Champagne, or should be at least. I remember buying a bottle in the “girls’ cellar” in Hautvillers for 20 € and being blown away by the QPR after popping it. One year later I was in New York and by random chance ended up in a shop called Oak and Steel (yeah I know, I am sure everyone here would now tell to avoid it, it if still exists). The employee was extremely proud of their grower Champagne section and gave a raving recommendation for this very wine in a half bottle, priced modestly at $35/0,375l.

I wish I had opened a magnum yesterday. The 750 ml did not last long.
