Coulda been a contendah (1989 Clos L'Eglise)

Corked. Not horribly corked, but corked nonetheless. Brought to Michel Richard’s Central for dinner, and with no back up we drank it. The wet cardboard diminished with time and the wine came out of its shell a a bit, but it never really woke up. You could tell, though, that there was a beauty beneath.

If you have bottles, I think it is about where it is going to be, but it should be a very pleasant experience. Unless it is corked.

Ive always been under the impression that corked wines get worse, the flaw more pronounced, over time. Interesting that your experience seems to have been the opposite.

Have opened a few bottles of this wine over the past few years and they have been either gorgeous or corked. No middle ground.
