TN: 2015 Marquis de Laguiche (Joseph Drouhin) Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot

  • 2015 Marquis de Laguiche (Joseph Drouhin) Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru (1/11/2019)
This is more open than I expected. Light golden yellow, with intense scents of pear, yellow apple, with a nuttiness and hints of clove & nutmeg. The palate is focused and at the same time generous. Pineapple, green banana, kiwi, and green apple linger with a shift in the mid-palate to clove & baking spices that linger nicely on the finish. The essence of Chassagne Montrachet…I wish I could trust in aging this to see where it is in another 15 years…Outstanding!!

The 2014 also is fabulous

John Gilman did a nice article about this cuvée recently, if any of you happen to subscribe.

While I was really pleased with this…if I had to choose between this and the less expensive Bachelet-Monnot Puligny-Montrachet, I’d chose the latter every time…

I have 5 bottles left of the '14. Love this wine. Going to have to try the '15.
