TN: 2014 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée

I don’t usually open CdP this young but I am eyeing this on a wine list on a ski trip I have planned in a few weeks and wanted to check in on it before I order. This is a delightful young wine which will undoubtedly improve over time but delicious and drinkable right now. I will certainly order this if it’s still on the wine list when I get there. A+

Pop and pour. Medium bodied and great young nose. Very burgundian and could fool many into thinking a Cote du Beaune like Volnay instead of Pommard. Not too funky but so very balanced. Not roasted at all. Great acids and low tannins make drinking a pleasure. Does hot seem hot at all. I love the ‘weaker’ years in CdP as they are way more elegant. I’m a sucker for Pegau as well. I reloaded before posting this to ensure my hoarder supply. (93 pts.)
