Are these the top "wine influencers"?

Apart from Jamie Goode, I’ve never heard of any of these folks declared to be top “influencers” in this Drinks Insights list published today. It’s “based on their performance and engagement online.”

  1. Ken Alawine
  2. Peter Dickens
  3. Frankie Cook
  4. Robert Joseph
  5. Julien Miguel
  6. Amy Lieberfarb
  7. Fiona Beckett
  8. Jon Thorsen
  9. Jamie Goode
  10. Fabien Laine

Dickens, Joseph and Beckett are British, like Goode, which might explain why they are unfamiliar to me.

Anyone else heard of any of these people?

I think this board is the top influencer.

not on the 'gram, so I can’t help. But influencers are an amusing concept in general. I’ve run into them at restaurants, clubs and bars. Always douchey.

Never heard of any of those people

Other than Jamie, I know Fiona Beckett.

That being said, the “influencers” thing is one of the silliest of the internet age.

I think they may be influencing groups such as Serpa’s, the Sentinelese and the Aghori(trying to get these to improve beverage pairing with their fav can be the ultimate challenge).

Unless they have Youtube presence, they aren’t influencers.

Because there’s nothing more scintillating that watching people taste and discuss wine on video. [snort.gif]

More just making the joke on “influencers” than wanting to watch Youtube videos of people tasting wine.

for me it’s Jerry, Jeremy, Fred, and Charlie.

Agreed!

Sadly, I think the top wine influencers are the shelf space marketers who build walls made of Apothic red and such.

So, my top wine influencer is whoever is running Gallo’s program.

Vaguely heard of Robert Joseph, definitely heard (and approve) of Jamie Goode.

We should be OK here as long as board members are not under the influence.

Dan Kravitz

Those aren’t influencers, they’re BALLERS!

This is a list compiled based on Twitter followers, Facebook followers, and probably other ‘metrics’ that define ‘influence’ . . .

That said, as others have said, these are not ‘influencers’ most have heard of or probably ever will.

Cheers

This forum (and a handful of folks here) influence me more than anyone on instagram.

Wait, is this based on TWITTER? Is this for real?

Where is Parker? Jon Bonne? Galloni? Suckling?

I mean, when do people use notes from ANY of the people to hock wine at retail?

I was going to say…

MarcF has a video of me, at the end of a 14+ bottle night for 6 people, waxing philosophically about the glory of vintage Colares and its old vine, Franc de Pied qualities. It’s pure gold.

Otherwise, I’ve only heard of Jamie Goode, and simply cannot recall what, if anything, I have read that he or she has authorized. Assuming he or she is even an author.

here is the real test
