TN: Carlisle Syrah SierraMarVnyd '12....(short/boring)

Shared this wine ystrday w/ Blair:

  1. Carlisle Syrah SierraMarVnyd/SLH (15.8%; 200 cs) 2012: Very dark/near black color w/ no bricking; very strong ripe/blackberry/boysenberry/Syrah/spicy some herbal/thyme/pungent strong graphite/bit peppery slight alcoholic rather complex nose; soft rich/lush bit hot/alcoholic very intense boysenberry/blackberry/Syrah/ripe/spicy light toasty/oak rather pungent/herbal/thyme slight earthy some complex flavor w/ modest smooth/ripe tannins; very long bit hot/alcoholic very strong boysenberry/blackberry/Syrah some herbal/thyme/spicy/bit peppery some graphite complex finish w/ light ripe tannins; shows a bit of drying out on the palate and some alcoholic heat but probably as good as it’ll ever be; drink up; a lovely fully-mature SLH Syrah. $42.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. I really like Mike’s SLH Syrahs, SierraMar & Rosella’s. They have a herbal pungency to them that shouts SLH and are some of Calif’s most interesting Syrahs.
