Xmas Wines: Maison Leroy and Marc Colin

Since we travel to NYC every Xmas, we do it early, the weekend before. Popped these:

1999 Maison Leroy Pommard 1er Les Chaponnieres

Nose almost Bordeaux-ish at first, kirsch, dark fruits, but then something more distinctly Burgundian, brighter, red fruits, with with black pepper, some baking spice emerges.
In the mouth, silky, with intense mid-palate, leading on to sweet and long finish, framed by a very deft stroke of oak. Not cheap—these were served at our early Xmas dinner—but seemed quite distinctive and very enjoyable (92-4 pts).

2014 Marc Colin Puligny 1er La Garenne
Lemon curd, nice minerality, reasonably good cut. Fun to drink, but as it warmed in the glass, the oak became too prominent. (Sorry about the photo, could not get it to rotate.)
