Wineberserkers LA Offline: 85-2004 Krug Edition

Sorry missing the 89. But we were able to enjoy the other 10 vintages released from 1985-2004

Killer time at Longo Seafood in Rosemead. Live King Crab prepped 3 ways, live geoduck 2 ways, live spot prawns, whole suckling pig, live aussie spiny lobster prepped 2 days. Went awesome with the Krug.

Thanks Jeff for getting off the ground for this. We had Brandon who was an offline virgin. Back road Bob made the trek over. Gene and his wife fly in from Norcal. Jonathon flew in from CT. Glorious time was had by all. Todd was invited, but he didn’t show.

Nice…any thoughts on the 1985? I’ve got one I’ve been hanging on to for some time…

Thanks

Nice line up and inspired menu. Haven’t done a champagne only dinner since Spain in the mid 00’s. Do love the 88, but how was the 90 showing ?

very cool. Let’s see some detailed tasting notes. Why did dinner cost for the food? Sounds great.

Initially the bottle was a bit too cold and showed empty. I wasn’t expecting a ton since I felt 85 has been falling off a bit. But once this warmed up it really grew into this round filled bubbly, loads of nuts and fruit. I liked it.

The 90 was a powerhouse - very dense, but showing more oxidative edges similar to the 85. I’d say a younger more amped up version of the 85

Fantastic line up. Especially loved the last flight of 85, 88, 90. The 95 and 04 were the surprises for me.
No photos of the live crustaceans?

Looks like an incredible evening. I had the ‘88 earlier this year and it was outstanding. Glad to see you all enjoyed it as well.

Ugh it hurts me this thread [truce.gif] glad you guy’s had a great time!

Yes, does anyone have photos or vids of the wiggling monsters? My phone battery died after the suckling pig.

Sorry I don’t get around much in these circles. We were in Hawaii anyway. I have three of those 89’s in the wine locker looking for an excuse. Next time.

Weird that I’m seeing this thread for the first time. ''Twas a marvelous get-together in every aspect - company, food and alcohol (there were a few other bottles of non-bubbles to fill out the evening).

I’ll have to check the wife’s phone for pics/video beyond the Krug that were taken.

I was a dummy and forgot my camera. Left it in my room.
