TN: 2014 Ultramarine Rosé Heintz Vineyard

  • 2014 Ultramarine Rosé Heintz Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (12/4/2018)
Intense at first…explosion of citrus and bursting bubbles, cherry pop rocks! A little air calms it down, revealing less flesh than previous UM’s i’ve had…pretty salmon color Rose’, more pretties of lace strawberry, raspberry, cherry skin…flesh of cantaloupe and peaches…refreshing citrus cut, with a nice savory minerality, finishing with a creamy and airy mousse of subtle orange and ginger. Delicious wine here, a complete departure from the deep red saignée-style 2011, which I thought was SO fun to drink. This could be a BdN? Tasty stuff…but for a “Rose”, I prefer the
saignée-style…that deep red with bubbles was so cool! (92 pts.)

Thanks for the note. Mine hasn’t arrived yet. Thoughts on aging?

Buzz, that was damn quick. I literally just put mine in the cellar a couple hours ago.

Fresh off the truck, eh?
Thanks for the data point. Mine arrive today.
Will let them rest a bit. Look forward to it.

How long do you plan on resting them?

I am a rester of wines, in general. Probably wait a couple months on these. Though I tend to pound through my Ultramarine wines fairly quickly.
