TN: 1995 Château Léoville Barton (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien)

  • 1995 Château Léoville Barton - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien (02.12.2018)
Stood up for a couple of days. 3-hr decant. A small sip shows a tightly-wound, brooding, big-shouldered wine. With dinner (beef wellington, potato gratin with emmentaler, and flat green beans)and in a bigger glass it comes together very nicely. Still remarkably fresh, with full aromatics, and a full but refreshing feel on the palate. Good tannins with some velvet.

Thanks for the TN. I have a 98 that I’m standing up for later this week.

Just to respond to the mention of the 1998 Leoville Barton, but my 1998, stored since release, drank well back in August and am planning on drinking the rest of my stash sooner rather than later. Back at release, it tasted harsh and somewhat un-balanced such that I wasn’t enthusiastic about where it will head into with cellar years, but happy now that I held on.
