Who are the star up and coming US winemakers

Just curious on names of winemakers you are watching as they make their way in the US wine world, not looking for established names like Mike Smith or TRB but newer names. The two that spring to my mind are Chris Tynan and Ketan Mody

  • Sam Kaplan (Memento Mori, Maxem, Arkenstone, Vangone)
  • Massimo DiCostanzo (DiCostanzo)

Jamie Kutch.

Andre Tchelistcheff.

Hear he’s really good.

Here are a few from California I think are worth watching.
Jason Charles
Ian Brand
Craig Haarmeyer
Samantha Sheehan

I would add a few folks ‘down here’ that may not be noticed but should be:

Laura Roach for sparkling
Ryan Devolet
Steve Clifton (not a newbie but has never gotten the credit as a winemaker he deserves)
Matt Dees (again, never given credit for how good a winemaker he is)

Cheers . . .

I will go in a different direction and say Nathan Kendall from the Finger Lakes region. You should try his Riesling.

Nicole Walsh of Ser Winery. Wines of great purity.

Thanks- I needed a good laugh today.

Ditto!!

I’ll be curious to see where David Gregga goes as his career progresses. I believe he’s currently the assistant wine-maker at TOR. He’s an Iraq Veteran and has been an acquaintance of mine for the better part of a decade.

Dan Fitzgerald

Sorry, don’t get it.

I wonder if it would be useful to mention both the winemaker and the current winery where they work. I don’t recognize many of these names and would be curious to try some of their wines.

Is he even of drinking age yet???

+1

Jamie has been around for quite awhile, as I am sure you realize.

There you go. [cheers.gif]

Rich Salsano; I live upstate NY, not far from FL region…Which winery/wineries is Nathan Kendall working at?

Asante!
