TN: 2015 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes

  • 2015 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru (11/29/2018)
Tasted as part of a 2015 Wasserman Burgundy tasting. The nose was layered with red fruit and baking spices. Very young and expressive with red cherry and tea notes on the palate. The finish on this was long and profound. This wine showed well. I hope to find some bottles to see how time works on some of the mild angularity. Already a beautiful wine. (95 pts.)

Waaooh…at 3 years of age!.. and not closed…

Fully expected this to be shut down and not giving much. I was shocked how open and accessible. Of course, it will need good amount of cellaring to soften the edges on this but there is already a degree of impressive balance to this young wine.

Great note! Young Lafarge can be so yummy. Was the wine limpid -for wine, like so many Lafarge Volnays?

Also, 2015 Burgundy, in general, have been really pleasing lately.

Lovely. The “mild angularity” is one of my favorite features of Lafarge.

Very light and this wine is unfiltered and unfined.

Sounds so good. I think I have bought some and have a few coming… I need to check!
