TN: Drew Chard ValentiRanch '16...(short/boring)

My Drew shipment arrived last week, so cracked last night:

  1. Drew Chard ValentiRanch/MendoRidge (13.4%; Organic grapes; 18 mo. in neutral Fr.oak; Old Wente/MtEden/Dijon 176 & 75 clones; Drk: 2018-2027: JD) Elk 2016: Med.gold color; lovely melony/Chard/lemony light pencilly/oak rather minerally/chalky bit saline some complex nose; quite tart/tangy/bit saline/bracing acidity strong rich/melony/lemony/Chard/bit spicy light pencilly/smokey/caramel/oak taut/structured flavor; very long/lingering light pencilly/caramel/oak strong lemony/melony/Chard/spicy slight chalky/mineral structured/sinewy bit complex rather rich finish; a lovely rather savory Chard but not at all lean or eviscerated; reminds a lot of a young MtEden or Hanzell Chard; little doubt that it’ll go out to 2027; this is how they would make MendoRidge Chard in Chablis if they could; beautiful Chard that’ll only get better. $42.50

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. Even though JasonDrew is one of the darlings of the IPoB crowd, I very much like his wines. They are generally packed w/ flavor and well structured. Good wines across the board.
