TN: 2016 Paix Sur Terre Ugni Blanc

Lovely nose of limestone, white peaches and a little hint of white pepper. Nice viscous texture, palate flavors very consistent with the nose, with a lovely balanced acidity on the finish. My sense is this has the structure to age for a while - still pretty tightly coiled. Trebbiano has potential in California!

Thanks for the note. I haven’t tasted the 2016 but I was impressed by the two earlier vintages. I think it shows that even a grape variety that typically gets as little respect as this one can make very good wine if the vines are planted in the right place and are farmed more for quality than quantity, then made with the same care you’d give a more highly-regarded variety.
