TN: E Pira & Figi Chiara Boschis 2004 Barolo Cannubi

Found a few of these going through a dark corner of my cellar. One bottle fill was a little low, so I decided it was better to get to it sooner rather than later. A little seepage up the cork, Decanted at 11AM for evening consumption with Osso Bucco.

And, even as its being poured I can smell beautiful aromatics. A translucent crimson core with clearing but no orange around the rim. The other bottles will not see the light of day for at least a few more years. Just a joy to smell. Explosive aromatics in a Burgundy stem red and black cherry, raspberry, boysenberry, a little tar and a lot of flowers. Beautiful aromatics.

Lovely and rich midpalate texture. Good acidity, and the tannins are meltng into the core of the wine, though they poke out just a bit as the wine goes from front to back. Food tames them. Lovely mix of creamy fruit and grippy tannin that is distinctly Nebbiolo. I expect this wine will be in this stage for a long time to come.
