TN: 2011 Chateau Smith Haut-Lafitte, Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux

After the blockbusters in 2009/10, which I didn’t purchase, I got a case of 2011 at a price too good to resist.

Popped and had a sip and recorked it on counter, but never got to it til tonight, so it sat for 24 hours. Has a nose of cool dark and red fruits, spice and purple flowers. Palate is loaded with cassis, black cherry, with a hint of oak and some nice floral and spice. Really nice acid and no ponderous flavors, very bright on palate and balanced.

Really great bottle of Bordeaux from a somewhat maligned vintage, one of the best wines I have had from 2011, stellar.
