2nd's of Super Seconds

Having recently had the
2015 Reserve de la Comtesse de Lalande and found it very elegant our local Costco got some of the below for 41.99
2015 Le Petit Lion de Marquis de Las Cases St. Julien

The Comtesse was able to to be bought recently for 43.99 (coupon)

Obviously, these are bot from Chateau’s that are highly regarded as Super Second Growths.
What do you all think about these 2 second wines?
Are there characteristics about these Chateau’s that you like?
I have a few of the Reserve Comtesse.
Is 41.99 a good price for the le petit lion?
Just curious if you folks felt like sharing.

Thanks

Karl

Had this last month:

2010 Sarget de Gruaud Larose - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien (10/27/2018)
Dark red with pink edges. Nutty red cherry fruit and floral red fruit flavours. A balanced dry finish. A bit simple. (86 pts.)

I haven’t had either, but if you’re happy to pay $42 for the le petit lion, then it’s a good price for you, which is all that matters.

by happenstance, I bought three more bottles of the '14 Le Dame de Montrose yesterday. I paid $33 for my first three, and happily paid $39/bottle yesterday. I would have bought more, but I got the last three on the shelf.

The 2000 vintage of this wine is excellent, and drinking quite nicely right now.

Aside from Dame de Montrose, I never buy them. I find other options are usually better – e.g., Branaire Ducru, Gloria, St. Pierre, etc.

Indeed, the only one I would seriously consider beyond Dame de Montrose is Clos du Marquis.

There are generally better Grand Vins from lesser Chateaux.

Thanks folks.
Julian
I did grab a clos du marquis 2015 at Costco in N Jersey in August.

As always, the la dame 10 will always be memorable
