TN: 1996 J. Lassalle Cuvée Angeline

fabulous and delicious Champagne that leads with its Pinot character, layered and vibrant, very classy juice. Stray cellar bottle that was so enjoyable. Label indicates premier cru.

Drank my last one of those about 10 years ago. What a value it was!

Excellent producer
The Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Millesime is also great in 1996 and 2002

High praise from you, Alan. Indeed, all 1er cru wines from Chigny-Les-Roses. The 2002 Angeline started out slowly, but is now a lovely bottle, as well. For my tastes, J. Lassalle’s Brut Rose NV is one the surest things in Champagne, right up there with Bara’s Brut Rose.

Id put Aubry Brut Rose (and Camille Saves 1er cry) at the top of my value rose plays, but Lasalle is a very solid choice.
