2005 Tablas Creek Mourvedre - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (10/25/2018)
– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over 2 - 3 hours –
NOSE: moderate expressive; high-toned dark fruits; medium-light oak; new plastic note.
BODY: fine particulate matter present; dark violet-garnet color of great depth; medium bodied.
TASTE: still some drying tannin and medium-light oak; empty rear palate; not much follow-through with the fruit; alc. pokes through a bit (14.3%); some garrigué on the finish; pleasant underlying mineral; medium acidity. Ashley gut impression score: 88. My gut impression score: 87 – 89 (my full score, below, falls at the upper end of this range). Drink Now, as it seems the fruit is falling away leaving behind oak and alcohol. This is probably a couple years past peak.
