Billecart-Salmon Cuvee 200?

Billecart’s 200th anniversary bottling, Cuvee 200…anyone had it?

If so, do you have a thought on what you would do with a bottle? Based on descriptions of what they’ve put together, it sounds like it is built to age, but, there’s not a lot of solid commentary out there. Is this one to tuck away for twenty years?

Collin,

This definitely has aging capability though I don’t know exactly how much. Today, it is enjoyable and shows potential for improvement. I’d be comfortable drinking this in 10 years, but in 20, it may be on the downside; 15 years may even be pushing it a bit. Not saying it won’t be good, just past its peak.

I base my opinion on not only how it shows today, but how it is made. It has a good amount of older wine in it (blend of 2012, 2008, 2003, 2000), is mostly Pinot (92% Pinot Noir, 4% Pinot Meunier, 4% Chardonnay), is 50% oak, and has a lower dosage at 4.5 g/L. It also is done mostly in magnums (a few jeroboams exist too). Of course, everything depends on personal preference too.

Thanks for that input. I appreciate it.
