TN: 2017 Massican Gemina (USA, California)

2017 Massican Gemina - USA, California (9/17/2018)
A blend of 77% Pinot Grigio and 23% Greco, the 2017 Massican Gemina takes what could be a workhorse, pairs it with a relative (compared to its blend-mate) unknown, and creates a bright, refreshing, lightly aromatic wine that has surprising palate depth. Lemon zest, tart peach and Marcona almond aromas give way to a citrus-dominated palate that picks up a touch of chalky/phenolic structure. A distinct nuttiness blossoms in the mid-palate and carries though a finish that hints at herbs and peach pit. The structure suggests a few years in bottle will do no harm, and might very well be beneficial.

The wine worked very well as an accompaniment to a simple, vegetarian pasta dish with cherry tomatoes, Romano cheese and toasted garlic.

Great Note! Just had this at Passionfish and it paired very nicely with the Sea Bass crudo.
