- 2014 Domaine de la Denante St. Véran - France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, St. Véran (9/9/2018)
Upon opening the bottle I got taken back some 40 years to my neighbours garden which was overflowing with gooseberry bushes we so often visited.
Rich golden yellow colour, ripe green apples and pear on the nose with that special initial note of ripe white gooseberries which disappeared as quickly as it was revealed upon opening. The wine is well structured with a dominant acidic back bone which leads from the initial introduction to above mentioned notes towards a fine finish only intercepted by a creamy silky mid section.
Lots of fun for very little money. Wants me to explore more the so often ignored/forgotten region of Maconnais. (90 pts.)
