2017 Justin Sauvignon Blanc, Central Coast

Had to buy white wine from my local store, no regrets so far.

Pale, almost water-white color. Pleasant aromas of grass and lemon (thankfully not grapefruit) have moderate intensity. The palate is clean, fresh, pleasantly lively. The texture is a little light and faint. The flavors reprise the aromas, pleasant but rather simple. This is a perfectly nice, everyday Sauvignon Blanc, impeccably varietal. For my $16.50, and the reputation of the winery (well-deserved from the few other Justins I’ve had), I wanted just a little more intensity of flavor. I would have been very happy if it cost five bucks less, but this is unimpeachably well-made wine at any price. Rated 86.5, drink now or hold another year or so. While it might possibly improve for a year or two, it won’t be enough to tempt me into another bottle.

Great note, Dan. I picked 2 up from my local spot for $13 hoping for something good/cheap for a weeknight meal, or when guests are over and I don’t have to break the bank. Sounds like I got what I was looking for

“Impeccably varietal” is an awesome descriptive term. I am stealing it.
