Walmart wines are coming

Walmart announced that sometime in 3rd Q 2018 it will begin offering customers a new discount item; Walmart’s own brand of wine.

The world’s largest retail chain is rumored to be teaming up with Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery of California to produce the spirits at an affordable price in the $2 to $5 range.

Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to put a bottle of the Walmart brand into their shopping carts, but ‘There is a market for inexpensive wine,’ said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at University of Arkansas, Bentonville, ‘However, branding will be very important.’

Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most
attractive name for the Walmart wine brands and varieties.

The top surveyed names in order of popularity were:
10. Chateau Traileur Parc
9. White Trashfindel
8. Big Red Gulp
7. World Championship Riesling
6. NASCARbernet
5. Chef Boyardeaux
4. Peanut Noir
3. I Can’t Believe it’s not Vinegar
2. Grape Expectations

  1. Nasti Spumante

The beauty of Walmart wine is that it can be served with
either white meat (Possum) or red meat (Squirrel).

#7 is a winner

I have no idea how these will do - and have no idea how well the Target wines are doing - but there is no doubt that ‘private label’ wines are here to stay, at all price levels. Trader Joes and Costco have been quite successful with these, albeit it usually higher price levels.

This should be interesting for sure . . .

Cheers.

That’s oooooolddd. Someone first sent this to me years ago.

I was trying to come up with a name, but it might be to geeky: Clos [wall] Mart

The article at the end was June 7, 2018. The other stuff was ooooold.

Ah. Most versions that list had a similar introduction, so I just assumed you were last on the humor e-mail list. [wink.gif]

Actually, I was on the end of the first part as of today.

Reasonable post until then end. Then I thought, what a a$$hole.

Heard the first offering might be a Central Coast Mourvedre…or is it Graciano? Nevermind. [stirthepothal.gif]

I bought walmart wine for my wife’s
book club YEARS ago.

#fakenews

They have had Walmart labels for years that they source, they don’t say Walmart on label, but are exclusive to Walmart.

I liked the part about possum and squirrel.
Or was it moose and squirrel? I can’t remember.

Pretty much the same as I see it
