sales tax!
?
In the past weeks, they weren't charging sales tax (wonder how much they incurred). Just got a order confirmation this morning with sales tax. Brought the total up a few bucks. [pwn.gif]
Could it be because you’re based in CA? I placed an order this morning using the site and no sales tax

Whenever I see '08 Veuve at that price, I want it. Then I tell myself it's Veuve and to put that money towards '08 Dom/Cristal. Then I mildly regret not buying '08 Veuve.

Repeat cycle.

All the CA firms I buy from just started within the last two months... starts eating into the reason to use them but still overall cheaper with better access

There are a lot of Veuve haters. I suspect because the NV is so ubiquitous. I don't understand those people. Also, the Veuve '08s are great.

I hope I have not unnecessarily increased your regret. [snort.gif]

A '98 La Grande Dame I had last year had not aged very well at all, imo.

2008 Veuve is magnificent. It was the first major vintage of their newer winemaker, Dominique Demarville (who's now off to Laurent Perrier I think?), and he seriously knows what he's doing. The yellow label improved in quality considerably, too. I wouldn't hesitate, and it's an okay price for these shores.

I'm still frustrated that I get essentially none of these offers (but do get several others not mentioned here). I emailed Greg to see but got no response.

Popped one a month ago and was disappointed. Seemed like a correct bottle; just heavy and lacking in nuance. Couple of XBXOs I've had in recent months were ok but not worth the tariff. No more Clicquot for me

I've had the 2014 Montee de Tonnerre from both labels - scored both 93. A little more fruit/weight and acidity from the S-B compared to more understated elegance from the B-S.

Props to Envoyer on including this note from Allen M on the latest wine... "This too displays a hint of the skunkiness that plagues several of the preceding wines so I repeat my advice to be sure to give this a thorough aeration as well as that my rating assumes that it will eventually dissipate"
