Re: Envoyer Thread #2: Everything else
Anyone have thoughts on the 1990 Domaine de la Tour Montagny 1er from the latest email offer? I've never had a white burg with that much age, and at 29.99 I couldn't resist taking a flyer on a couple bottles.

Most of today's cellar is out of my price range, but I just sprained my shoulder patting myself on the back for resisting the siren call of the 2001 Prüm LGKA.

Hey is it my imagination or is Greg taking a little break on offers? Am I having an issue receiving his emials (has happened before) or has it been a slow holiday week?
Serious question. Thanks.

I don't know if it's good or bad, but I didn't even realize that my last offer was from 12/14. Gmail was having issues where it was bouncing e-mails, so I imagine that's what happened to me (and likely many others).Dennis Atick wrote: ↑December 24th, 2020, 6:11 amThanks, Brian. Wow this must explain why I was able to get all that Allemand at $150 a bottle even when I responded pretty late.

Interesting. My last offer was also 12/14. So we are all having the same gmail issue. Weird it took me so long to realize. It did help my hiatus from buying.

Re: Envoyer Thread #2: Everything else
Intrigued by the Le Petit Domaine Dole Coteaux Bourguignons Rouge, going to grab a few (at $25, sounds like it could certainly overdeliver).
"A very new and exciting wine, this is the first vintage from the small Vosne-Romanee producer, Nathalie Vigot's daughter, Marjorie Dole. Majorie is breaking on to the scene like her mother with an ultra-tiny production, most likely borrowing some of mom's old vine Couteaux Bourgignon right outside the Vosne designation. We offered Nathalie's Couteaux Bourguignon a while back. For those unfamiliar, it was formerly called Bourgogne Grand Ordinaire or Bourgogne Ordinaire, a designation given in the 1930s for wines deemed everyday wines and allows for the use of a wider variety of grapes, including muskat, Cesar, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc. Couteaux Bourguignon has become the testing ground for Burgundy producers looking to experiment, and while this is less of an experiment and more of a case of a family vineyard where they probably planted what they had, maybe even for a house wine. The label on the bottle states "La Vigne a Mamie" or Granny's vines.
At any rate, the vineyard is mostly Pinot Noir with a few sticks of very old vine Gamay scattered throughout, too good to be replanted. If Nathalie only makes 600 bottles of this, the production here has to be next to nothing. A friend of ours in France with a palate we respect tasted this recently, saying it was fantastic and is a wine with beautiful upfront appeal with a touch of the Vosne structure and minerality. We are getting a jump on this wine; it's so new it isn't even on Cellartracker yet. It's a unique insider Burgundy from possibly the new smallest producer in Vosne. Maybe we will see some Petit Monts from Le Petit Domaine Dole someday, but this is it for now. This is an excellent bottle for those looking to explore Burgundy and stay current while being a fantastic value for the Pinot Noir from the new and old world simultaneously; this is not one to miss!"

Clavelier prices are OOC. thewineclub offered 10, 12 and 15 brulees, beaux monts, and Combe de Orveaux for almost half the price recently. I’m sure 19 will be great but not at these prices.

Good gosh! When did Chevillon start commanding those prices? I paid $90 for the 2016 Pruliers less than 2 years ago, and now we have the NSG V.V. approaching that price mark. Is this all tariffs?

Same here. Hell, at those prices I can go back to Gevrey, Chambolle, and Vosne. Has Chevillon suddenly become "cool," or something? Is this the beginning of the Cornasification of NSG? (they both seem to have (or have had) similar reputations relative to neighboring appellations)D@vid Bu3ker wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2021, 2:38 pmIt’s not all tariffs. Those are only 25%. Just asked for a six pack. The 2015 vintage of this bottling is the wine that truly put GGs on my radar. Had a bottle of the 2018 a few nights ago, actually, and it was "fine" --- fine for the price, but a few ticks off the superlative 2015.

did anyone get in on the Barthod or Clerget offers last week?
I was confirmed for some Barthod Bourgogne and still waiting to hear back on Clerget. Opened a 16 Clerget Volnay last night though and its drinking really well.

lol. It's terrible how many distributors and retailers are gouging on Esmonin because the prices are so cheap. Got Ruchottes and Charmes for sub-$100 and another place was offering a "killer deal" at $150 like they were doing you a favor.

Hey Zac - it usually works the other way where you get rejected quickly. I have had hours/day waits until I got my confirmations so often, it is a good sign. ymmv.

It seems offers have been slow from Envoyer recently. Just an observation, as my wallet and bursting-at-the-seams storage situation don't mind!
