I didn't get as much as I usually do--but I do think that is Mullen's top site and also have some of the '18 Aulese from it too. It should be fun to do a horizontal and/or vertical in some years. MFW gave it a 93 still.Brian S t o t t e r wrote: ↑August 17th, 2020, 7:12 pmThe Willi Schaefer rand Von Schubert wines should be fabulous. Re: Envoyer Thread #2: Everything else
I had that ‘12 Schaefer #9 a couple weeks ago out of .375. It’s a Frankenstein wine: huge fruit, huge acidity, very tropical, very long... and yet, beautifully balanced. Just awesome.Brian S t o t t e r wrote: ↑August 17th, 2020, 7:12 pmThe Willi Schaefer rand Von Schubert wines should be fabulous. Re: Envoyer Thread #2: Everything else
I was a bit worried that the tariffs had caused Envoyer some issues as it had been a bit since I was excited by their offers but between this, champagne, and today's Barolo cellar, my wine budget is busted for the month. Asked for some of the 1964 Valfieri Barolo Riserva based on this. Thanks Greg and Jeremy.

I also was surprised by the 33% price increase YoY. Will probably skip this and wait for 2009/2010 unless I can find it closer to $35 somewhere else...Cris Whetstone wrote: ↑August 23rd, 2020, 11:06 am Ooof. Bring on the tariffs?

Isn't the price increase just basically the tariffs?
I always thought it was underpriced relative to quality and ageability, but didn't bite as I don't need more wine.

interesting half bottle of Huet Le Haut Lieu Sec on offer today.
The one Cellartracker note says it's sweeter, but I thought the Sec is on the dry side. Is there a lot of vintage variation wrt residual sugar?

Went for 3 of the Camus-Bruchon Savigny offered this morning; never tried it, but it sounds compelling. 100 yo vines. Consistently solid reviews across multiple vintages from trusted tasters on CT. $30. Seems like a no-brainer. I'm just nervous I'm going to later regret buying *only* 3.

Re: Envoyer Thread #2: Everything else
I have some MM wines but more of my tasting experience with them is somewhat older. Their wines age very well and can become excellent, but unless they have changed their style to me they tend to be wines that are rough when young and need time. I would not buy this to drink young unless you see some very specific tasting notes on the wine.Troy Stark wrote: ↑November 12th, 2020, 10:12 am 2018 Mongeard Mugneret Richebourg for $400? Re: Envoyer Thread #2: Everything else
Great info, Howard. We'd be aging it. 2018 is our son's birth year. We don't mind rustic as long as that's not code for "brett."Howard Cooper wrote: ↑November 12th, 2020, 5:36 pmI have some MM wines but more of my tasting experience with them is somewhat older. Seems reasonable??? Anyone have experience with this wine?
(Can't believe I just said a $400 wine is reasonable)

That 2015 Grande Mayne second on offer this morning is really damn good, particularly for $30. I bought six.
