I also got a response back on a very nice 4/28 cellar, saying they were waiting on final bottle count from the seller.
Waiting on a few regular orders from last week, but none older than 5/4. Agreed, I'm sure they are just busy. Thanks for the input
And I believe sometimes when there are more requests than bottles available, Envoyer looks to see whether it can get more before telling people "sorry, sold out". It took me a couple of weeks to hear back on the Marguet Champagne offer . . .

Agreed. They’ve been super responsive to random emails. But it is taking a week or two to confirm requests on some more recent offers, like Marguet. I know of one that I’m pretty sure was way oversold. I think they’re just doing everything they can to keep up while their hands are tied by COVID and kudos to them for doing a very good job of it. It’s probably best that my budget is tied up in pending requests anyway

Just pulled the trigger on 2017 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Rangen de Thann Clos St. Urbain for $50. Great wine, and a no-brainer at that price. Hope I can hide them in the cellar for 10 years...whites never seem to last long at my house!

They sold out quickly. I was too slow on the trigger!

Just got my invoice for a recent shipment from Envoyer...looks like they’re charging for the styrofoam shippers now in addition to the shipping cost. Is this new or something I’ve missed previously (maybe new POS system just provides better detail)?

I think this is new. My shipment cost for a 15-bottle case last year was $50 and a 6-bottle case a few weeks ago was $34 + $6.50 shipper.

I've been charged for the shipper before, but I think it's more obvious on the new receipts.

What I'm wondering about is the 1c "shipping" charge in addition to the box and the actual shipping.

The shipping cost have definitely increased for me over the past year. No worries as my wine purchasing has fallen off a cliff thanks to retirement.

It's about double prior years, right? I haven't bought since the 2013, but they were $80-85 as I remember

I had inquired with a retailer about the 2016 about a year back. They told me that unlike in prior years, they were being required to take a bunch of other wine in order to get access. So that must be compounding the hype.

You could definitely get the 2013 under $100 if you shopped smartly, but I also saw it for $100-110 frequently.

$180 is double the price of the 2015 from the same source.

Couldn't resist the Cacheux Vosne Suchots for $50, despite the warning on heavy-handedness. And I have no idea who Andreas Larrson is, but his little video tasting notes on youtube were reassuring. Quote: "bloody good!"

Finally got around to opening the '13 Les Suchots from Rene Cacheux - probably the worst clunker of all my Envoyer purchases, and not at all what I would hope for from Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru.

My note from CT (mentioning the only other note posted, which was similar to mine):
Dark dense ruby purple in the glass, aromas are dense and dark - note below of tar is spot on - plus some dark berries, cinnamon, and a slightly unpleasant stemmy character that mingles with the tar (though I have read they destem - could be from the barrel). On the palate, lots of tart acidity, the fruit is there but overshadowed by that tar character, still grippy tannins on the finish. Not pleasant. Will leave this out for a while and check back in to see if more air/time improves it. Could also benefit from a charred steak alongside (alas, no red meat in the fridge right now).

to be fair, I've been consistently a pretty big fontodi fan for a while and I haven't consistently seen many prices for any vintages of Flacc in that range for a while now.

Sorbo is starting to hit those prices though.

the most annoying part is the 12 pack shipment I got this year was TERRIBLE. it opened from the bottom with the bottles upside down and was HUGE. the 6 pack was the size of a normal 12 pack shipper almost.

I think Curtis is saying they don't usually sell a lot of domestic stuff, but maybe there's something else about Arcadian in particular being offered that he finds interesting. Not sure.

Small former winery that never promoted or extended themselves too much, but had pretty passionate supporters due to their Burgundian Pinots and Chards (oh, and their Syrah wasn't bad at all). Lots of love goes to their Sleepy Hollow vineyard bottles. I'd buy if Envoyer offered that.

The latter [cheers.gif] Arcadian was a pretty small operation with pretty few sales outlets. Very surprised to see them in fairly large quantities offered on Envoyer, especially when others are wondering what's been happening with Arcadian since closure. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=169406

The '06 Max Syrah at $60 is an absolute steal. If I wasn't on a strict buying freeze right now I would be all over that. It's probably the best domestic Syrah I've had.

I thought long and hard about the 375 Echezeaux. Was very tempted. As they say, high quality burgs in 375s are hard to find. But in the end, it was too recent, too expensive, and I am too old

anyone biting on any of these Mongeard-Mugnerets being offered lately?
I thought long and hard about the 375 Echezeaux. Was very tempted. As they say, high quality burgs in 375s are hard to find. But in the end, it was too recent, too expensive, and I am too old

Wanted some 375s. Proudly, willpower won, however.

2018 Mongeard-Mugneret Grands-Echezeaux? Seems like a decent deal for GC

Glad to see the offers on the 2019 Donnhoff and Fritz Haag wines. I've been hoping Greg would offer them, and some more 2019 Germans. I have a grand nephew and my friend has a granddaughter, both born in 2019, who should be very happy in a couple of decades.
