Having a client dinner at EMP this Monday night. Don’t want to do the tasting (I don’t think they are the best value). Instead looking to get 2-3 bottles with a all in budget of around $1200.
All depends on what you and your clients like to drink, but a few that interest me:
2013 Alzinger Loibenberg Smaragd 155 (fabulous try Riesling)
2013 Georges Vernay Coteau de Vernon 420
2014 Vincent Dauvissat Preuses 425
2014 Domaine Roulot Tillets 300
2008 Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg Chaignots 370
2001 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Santenots du Milieu 380
2013 Domaine de la Pousse d’Or Clos des 60 Ouvrées 305
2009 Pierre Gonon Vieilles Vignes 405 (unicorn, excellent price on a *** wine list)
No matter what you choose, I’d finish with a glass of the 85 Fonseca.
This isn’t what the OP had in mind but perhaps someone else is reading this thread and looking not to break their budget. In that case, there are some reasonably priced Riesling hiding in there for treasure seekers. For example, this is from a reliable producer in a high acid vintage. Should be great.
