Eleven Madison Wine List

Having a client dinner at EMP this Monday night. Don’t want to do the tasting (I don’t think they are the best value). Instead looking to get 2-3 bottles with a all in budget of around $1200.

Would love to hear what you guys would choose.

Mag of ‘15 Juge for $340 and BYO the rest.

LOL, exactly what I spotted as my top choice. All day long.

Some nice Bretons and Raffault. Gonon.

BYO.
My favorite at EMP was enjoying a 1994 La Jota Howell Mountain Selection and 1995 Cos d’Estournel, while George and Anne Hejna watched. [snort.gif]

2014 white Chassagne Montrachet premier cru from PYCM or Bernard Moreau. Premier cru red Burgundy from Fourier, Hudelot-Noellat or Mugneret-Gibourg.

What’s the corkage fee?

$50

Victor is not good at sharing… neener

You are worse at asking.

Alt to Juge:
Benetiere Dolium $480 or 09 Gonon VV

All depends on what you and your clients like to drink, but a few that interest me:

2013 Alzinger Loibenberg Smaragd 155 (fabulous try Riesling)
2013 Georges Vernay Coteau de Vernon 420
2014 Vincent Dauvissat Preuses 425
2014 Domaine Roulot Tillets 300

2008 Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg Chaignots 370
2001 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Santenots du Milieu 380
2013 Domaine de la Pousse d’Or Clos des 60 Ouvrées 305
2009 Pierre Gonon Vieilles Vignes 405 (unicorn, excellent price on a *** wine list)

No matter what you choose, I’d finish with a glass of the 85 Fonseca.

Either or both of the Pelizzatti Valtelina 1969. Those would be rare as hens teeth making he tarrif quite OK

Is EMP service included? I’m thinking I read they switched to that. Also total tax?

Point is if the 1200 includes the taxxsnd grat - ?

Includes service but not tax.

Champagne: 2012 Bouchard Ursules $315
White: Yves Collin Morey St Aubin (any) $175
Red: 2015 Mugneret Gibourg Vosne Romanee $250

This isn’t what the OP had in mind but perhaps someone else is reading this thread and looking not to break their budget. In that case, there are some reasonably priced Riesling hiding in there for treasure seekers. For example, this is from a reliable producer in a high acid vintage. Should be great.

Alfred Merkelbach, Kinheimer Rosenberg, Spätlese 2010 $60

Did the Reserve Wine pairing 2 weeks ago…well worth the tariff and paired impeccably with the courses!

Victor,

I’m guessing it’s been a while since you’ve been to EMP. Corkage has been $75/bottle for a while.
