TN: 2016 Tenuta le Potazzine Rosso di Montalcino

  • 2016 Tenuta le Potazzine Rosso di Montalcino - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino (3/12/2018)
Excellent. Gorelli has a real masterpiece on his hands here, and this leaves little doubt that it can compete (and win) when considered alongside many of today’s Brunello wines. It’s sappy on the nose and palate on the one hand, and fresh and packed with tension on the other. The aromas are a continuous cascade of complex, soil, floral and fruit-driven messages. Huge on the palate, at first, before the acids move in to lift this considerable effort along efficiently and cleanly; no sooner has one finished the tasting swallow before the urge to re-explore takes hold. My notes say ‘LONG’ several times, fwiw. Tremendous. 14,0% abv., drink now thru 2044. highly recommended+
