Several years back (I can talk now), a trip to Bern’s featured some 1903 and 1905 Bordeaux, several of which were still brilliant. A Latour, I think. Might be there was an 1895, too. Wish I kept a list of specifics. Need to check with Bowden on producers.

1895 Pichon Baron at Berns- history in a glass and a great bottle.

1907 Heidsieck & Co. Monopole Diamant Bleu “Shipwrecked” Champagne.

Harumph…I used to hang w/ Pliny the Elder and drink his wines. Does that count for sumthin’??
I have a (short/boring) TN on cuneiform tablet somewhere I could post.

For me, would be 1868 & 1871 Madeira. Ridiculously priced around $24/btl at HarryHoffman’s in Denver.

1873 Rausan Segla, from magnum, at Bern’s in 2007.

Were they sound?

I’m a piker compared to all the other posters here. 1964 Woodside Vineyards La Cuesta Cabernet Sauvignon from a vineyard planted in 1884 in 1988 at a David Bennion memorial tasting. Wonderful wine.

1832 Madeira at Grailey’s before Christmas a couple years back. Fascinating piece of history shared by a generous member I’ve known for a while. Great guy. Lovely, fun wine.

I’ve had a fair handful of Madeiras from the 1800s, all Bern’s.

Also from Bern’s:

1920 Leoville Poyferre
1920 Leoville Barton
1926 Leoville Barton

These wines were side-by-side, full pours, all alive and delicious, with the Barton and the ‘20 LP being stunners. Check out Levenberg’s CT notes from that awesome evening, where we had lots of goodies, including Ausone from 1950 and 1953.

Also from Bern’s …
a 53 Bordeaux, think it was the Lafon Rochet, and it was amazing.
Just had my oldest white wine this weekend, an 86 Riesling that was so so good - 40 Euro - In Rüdesheim.

1929 Chateau Latour

My stepfather gave me the bottle, which his father had bought and stored on release.

What did the 1791 Galbert (Red Rhone) taste like, and where did you find it?

Bit of a mixed bag. 1811 yquem and essencia were amazing…otherworldly and certainly sound…as was 1784 Madeira. 1811 Lafite was from Acker Auction so a bit suspect.

1899 Lafite and 1900 Latour were Mags ex-chateau direct so simply amazing.

Tasted it at the 1982 Heublein Auction Pre Tasting.
Amazingly, the COLOR had precipitated out and was greenish/yellow!
It tasted like celery juice…

I wish I had tasted more pre 20th Century wines. There’s some opportunities here every now and then, but can’t really afford tastings like those.

1760 Borges Terrantez.
Also the 1748 Justinos Solera Verdelho.
