DC Offsite Storage

So I had a quick search as I would have assumed that this would have been covered but I could not find anything (granted searching for DC and offsite storage is not a great combination).

I am moving to the DC area this summer (College Park) and was hoping to find some offsite storage options. Might anyone have some recommendations? I know of Domaine and The Wine Rack but I was wondering if there were any others that I might not have found. Thanks for your help!

Wide world of wine but doubt there is any space.

notwithstanding people’s personal issues with the company, there is Domaine DC (https://domainestorage.com/wine-storage/washington-dc-wine-storage/) as well as and Zachys DC (https://www.zachys.com/dc).

If you need temporary storage, you can try Schneiders. They’ve helped a friend out with short term storage last year.

Zachy’s is quite close to CP if you know the shortcut, nice folks to deal with as well. PM me when you’re settled as I live next to College Park.

If I remember their offering correctly, Zachy’s doesn’t offer individual lockers, just a big space and escorted “visits” to your stash. (I might be completely wrong here.)

Domaine is pretty full but there might be some lockers available. Maureen is probably correct that Wide World of Wines is, or at least recently was, fully subscribed. The Wine Rack probably does have lockers available, and the conditions inside are good, but, unless they’ve changed, access to your locker is very, very limited… maybe three or four hours Sat. morning, and a couple of hours Wed. night.

Great, thank you all for the recommendations!

Fair warning…it is all VERY expensive!

I noticed…both Domaine and the Wine Rack are about 50% more expensive than what I currently pay in Seattle.

It is true that Zachy’s does not rent you a “locker.” How it works is that they charge you by the case, by the month, for storing wine (and receiving shipments). They will apply a SKU to each bottle (or unopened solid case), and then when you want to pick up wine to take home you just let them know and they will pull them for you, so you don’t have to go digging around. They offer a bunch of other services a la cart, such as delivery within the DC area, packing/repacking wine, etc. Berserker Tim O. can assist anybody who’s interested in inquiring about storing there.

Zachy’s is a great service but you $pay$ for it! Unless you have 1000’s of bottles, it is cheaper in the long run to buy a couple of nice storage units IMO.

Reviving this. I am in the process of getting a quote to pickup (Maryland), store for 2.5 months, and deliver to Charlottesville, VA this summer. I’ll report back when I have a number.
