Poll: how I feel about Bourgogne rouge in "great" years

How I feel about Bourgogne rouge in “great” years:

  • Meh
  • too producer dependent to generalize
  • decent qpr for my palate
  • fantastic qpr for my palate
  • horrible qpr for my palate
  • I only buy Grand Cru Balla Burgs
  • I back up the truck with multiple cases from a handful of different producers
  • They age surprisingly well
  • They rarely age. Drink em shortly after release
  • I skip the rouge and step up to affordable 1ers in great vintages
  • red Burgundy is garbage water
  • red Burgundy is life

Thought I’d run a fun Burgundy poll as I enjoy a 13-year-old bottle of Bourgogne rouge. I know the term “great vintage” is somewhat open for interpretation. Personally, I would include the best 2 or 3 vintages of a “normal” decade.

I have this same bottle…will crack this week and post.

WooHoo! They’re drinking beautifully. On the elegant side, ripe red fruits with perfectly-balanced acid. Looking forward to your note.

You funny, Grasshopper. Dilly, Dilly!

Every time you comment without voting, an angel doesn’t get its Burgundy.

:frowning:

A recent 2007 Bachelet was not quite ready for prime time. Nice aromatics but tannic. I’ve been drinking through some 2005s and it really is producer dependent.

I like’m though and will buy by the case (once I’ve tasted) and if priced reasonably.
