2013 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieille Vigne - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin (1/21/2018)
Desiring to sample another 2013 hopefully before the wines shut down I opened this to accompany lemon-infused chicken. Darker ruby hue. Healthy nose of red berry, cinnamon, earth, violets, and iron. On the palate there was a core of pure, vivacious strawberry and red raspberry fruit layered with finely-beaded iron particles and a satisfyingly earthy sauvage element. Firm tannins relieved by refreshing acidity. Moderately long finish revealing red and black fruits, stone, meaty earth, and grip. Delicious village wine, delivering the goods splendidly in its primary phase. (91 pts.)
