1997 WILLIAMS SELYEM OLIVET LANE VINEYARDS PINOT NOIR

1997 WILLIAMS SELYEM OLIVET LANE VINEYARD PINOT NOIR- opened and poured into Riedel Burgundy stems; the colour was an unadulterated dark red; I got atypical spicy red raspberry and red cherry in the nose which continued on in the taste with cinnamon, strawberry, and red plum coming in; Olivet usually has a brambly, wild blackberry character that was missing in this bottle; it had good mouthfeel and a sustained finish; delightful and still so young and viable.

Cheers,
Blake

Interesting! So atypically red-fruited in profile?

Always remember the thrill I felt driving down Olivet Lane for the first time and realizing it was ‘that’ Olivet Lane.

To be clearer, there is some red cherry usually found in OL, but not raspberry and only occasionally strawberry and the missing link was the brambly, wild blackberry. I remember black cherry being in many of the earlier ones as well. Im talking OL Pinot made by Burt Williams from 89 up through the 97` vintage.
