Unfortunate winery names

I’ve always thought that Bret Bros was pretty inauspicious for a Burgundy house, at least for exporting to North America.

Any others of this ilk?

not so much winery name as appellation – Bourgogne montre cul
‘Burgundy show you my arse’…

Basel Cellars never sounded right to me.

Domaine de la Pousse d’Or always gives me a chuckle.

‘the golden shoot’?

are you being stupid on purpose, or is it an accident?

Stu Pedasso Cellars (read it aloud)

Also, I get some humor out of people calling Beaulieu Vineyards “BV”, which is shorthand for “bacterial vaginosis” in my field.

Merkin Vineyards…

I chuckle at “Butteaux.” (even this it’s really But-oh or Bu-toe.)

and Craipillot.

Peju (Pee-Yew)

Just look at it from the Beavis and Butthead perspective and you might get it.

Crapula

Ashes & Diamonds. Sorry, it sounds like something The Onion would come up with.

Not a winery, but a vineyard - Naylor Dry Hole

“Une pousse d’or” is the French equivalent of “a green thumb” (pousse=thumb).

The thing to bear in mind here is that in the USA, since the second language is Spanish, non-Francophone speakers will often pronounce the letter ‘e’ as ‘ay’…

This one is totally ridiculous; good call, Evan!
