TN: 2016 Thomas-Labaille Sancerre Chavignol Les Monts Damnés

  • 2016 Thomas-Labaille Sancerre Chavignol Les Monts Damnés - France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Sancerre (1/13/2018)
Leads with a dab lot of slightly underripe melon, but its the underlying minerality and absolutely on point acidity that really drives this Sancerre home for me. I don’t recall too many SB’s that hold my attention on this finish, voici l’exception. Superb. (92 pts.)

I’ve had this wine recently, and was also quite impressed.

Thanks for the report.

With the Cotat cousins, Thomas-Labaille Regular and Buster Mont Damnes have been my go-to in Sancerre since IIRC the 1997 vintage. Looking forward to trying the 2016s soon. The 2014s are amazing although they were shutting down as of about a year ago.
