TN: 2013 Rhys Pinot Noir Family Farm Vineyard

I might be 0-3 on the syrah, but I do like the pinots.

I usually drink these with more age, so I thought I would try one young. Red berries, sous-bois, smoke and meat (maybe smoked meat) and a slight bitter herbal edge to cut through the fruit. It finishes quite dry, almost dusty or chalky with tannin. Quite concentrated on the palate, packed with material, even though it is restrained: it gives the impression of coiled power and tension. Obviously youthful. Excellent overall. (91 pts.)

Had to google sous-bois

Your note describes why I have been a Family Farm fan for many years. It is typically lighter in body, more florals, more red fruit, but always backed up with the earthy stuff of smokey log and pine. Floral and potpourri nose is a trademark.
