Your favorite sub $30 Bourgogne Rouge?

This thread (and this one) led me to ask: What’s your favorite < $30?

Cheers,
Warren

Hudelot-Noellat
Jouan
Dublere

I assume you mean favorite bourgogne rouge when drank very young… ? These )HN, Jouan…) are indeed delicious when very young…

But when mature?

For me, these would be Mugneret Gibourg, Barthod, Grivot, Rion… for wines to also be drunk later (luteniere and Bons batons terroir)
NB I don’t include Cecile Tremblay as it does not meet 30$ threshold… but very good

Where are you buying Bourgogne Rouge from Mugneret-Gibourg or Barthod for $30? Certainly, not the US.

Really…MG Bourgogne is pushing $50 these days.

I do like the Hudelot Bourgogne.

Chevillon, although it now is pushing $30 as well.

As said in another thread:

  • Bougogne Grands Chaillot Thibault Liger-Belair even if for 2015 price will be just above $30. 2014 is at $27
  • Any Passe Tout Grains from good domaines: Lignier, Mugneret, Groffier, Clavelier, Lafarge, …

Anyone tried Didier Fornerol wines? I’m seeing a lot of chatter about them as one of the best value burgs out there…

Either of the LeClercs.

Guillemot is very good for under 30

Found myself looking in to D-F today after seeing their Bourgogne recommended by Daniel Johnnes. Worth a try for sure, though I find low expectations a key to really enjoying Bourgogne.

Maume-Tawse Bourgogne Vigne Blanche
Jean Pierre Guyon Bourgogne rouge (Vosne)

Disclaimer, I represent these guys.

An astonishing Côtes de Nuits Villages Didier Fornerol 2001 for me yesterday evening : 17,5/20 (excellent, expressive and very delicate).
Thought it was a Chambolle premier cru …

I would recommend any that I represented, but I’m not ITB

Lafarge

The Didier Fornerol wines are awesome. I agree that they drink way, way above their appelation. The Rue des Foins, which is from very, very old vines, is for me the best cotes de nuits village on the market. The prices are a steal.

I am a bit surprised as I paid 20€ (23$ and this is including 20% VAT) for my Bourgogne rouge Bons Batons 2015 from Barthod without being a direct customer (OK the merchant gave me a special deal and I only got 4 bottles). Sure 2016 will probably be a bit more expensive but I hope/expect still within the 30$ limit…
I thought it would be cheaper in US as you don’t have 20% sales tax (our VAT)… or maybe your merchants reserve special deals for their friends.

(maybe Trump put some duties on EU wine?)

Can anyone suggest a CA source for Jouan? W-S not helpful but love his wines.

Jean Fournier Marsannay Saint Urbain
Regis Bouvier en Montre Cul

There’s a few for sale on cc. I think the poster got them from heritage.
