I used the Zalto universal for a long time but have recently fallen for the Zalto champagne glasses. They are unbelievably light and thin. Capacity is just barely enough, I suppose, but it means the glass stays chilled. I really dig them.

When out, we ask for white wine glasses.

I vacillate between the Zalto Universal and Zalto Champagne, but have never tried a Gabriel Gold. The Zalto Champagnes are just as Neal described and useful when a bottle has to serve 6 or 8.

These glasses were being used a number of places in France to serve Champagne recently, really enjoyed drinking from them:

Recently back fro a trip in Champagne and everyone was pouring into some version of a "Jamesse champagne glass"..see Bed Bath & Beyond (Lehmann Glass Reference Jamesse Grand Rouge Glasses). I thought they were great and bought a bunch.

Bordeaux and for years now.

A now re-tired wine industry CEO and friend is getting the skinny on a NEW line that goes beyond Zalto for not only champagne, but Burgundy and Bordeaux and perhaps beyond. If that`s so, I`m in, will test and post on the particulars on Wine Talk.

That's perfect timing, because we could really use some more wine glasses around the house......said my wife never ;)

On a serious note, actually really interested to hear if you do end up digging them more than Zaltos (since I actually do think the above)

I really do not like the big bowl red wine glasses, and we dont use the flutes as much as we used to. I have bought a lot of older glasses from antique stores, and many had a similar shape as these. Plus as many as Julie and I break, 11 bucks is a good deal. Im telling you give 'em a try, they're not bad. Although I generally use Zalto for my Riesling and Burgundy, I'm generally a glasses are overblown (there's a nice pun) kind of guy.
