TN: 2008 Pol Roger Champagne Brut Rosé (France, Champagne)

  • 2008 Pol Roger Champagne Brut Rosé - France, Champagne
This is a top Pol Rosé, in my opinion. Rusty copper colour. Fine bead, persistent mousse. A lovely nose of strawberries, lemon zest, cherries, iron minerals and lemon tea. A touch of toast but not a lot of autolysis evident. On palate, real Pinot character. Blood oranges, raspberries, minerals and cherries. Savoury soil and dry brush undertones. Seemingly, low dosage. Bone dry. Refreshing, racy acidity. Good power but medium weight, only. Chiselled, elegant and fine. A Champagne that calls for food. I’d like to see it with a little development in 4-5+ years.

Thanks Howard. I like this as well. The '06 was great too.

I picked up 6 of these on a whim, and this note makes me very glad. Thanks.
