TN: 2010 Famille Perrin / Perrin & Fils Gigondas Domaine du Clos des Tourelles

If you like a Gigondas with tannin, acid, blue fruit, no sweetness, mouth puckering, ready now with development potential at $50 per at K&L, its worth a try.

  • 2010 Famille Perrin / Perrin & Fils Gigondas Domaine du Clos des Tourelles - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas (10/21/2017)
Vibrant, youthful, bright but dense purple. Bouquet sweet blue fruits. Tannic powdery pucker big time up front, although enjoyable because its followed by acid bite and blackberry. No sweetness, no jam, not dense. If you like a lot of bite in your wine, this is it. Years and years left in this to develop further. I am going back for more. (94 pts.)

Is this estate bottling sort of newish? I don’t recall hearing about it before

Goes back to 2009 on CT.

I think it was purchased by the Perrin family in 2008.

It’s from a small walled vineyard just in front of the village surrounding the rather grand building depicted on he label. The ‘Chateau’ has just been comprehensively renovated and looks like it contains guest rooms.

I agree with you on the wine - this and the l’Argnee Cuvee also made by the Perrins are my favourite Gigs at the moment
