WOW !! Awesome tasting with Mr Ernst Loosen !! Beginning with a 1981 Wehlener Sonnenuhr HERITAGE EDITION produced in the tradition of Riesling from the Rhine and Mosel 200 years ago. In those days wine stayed in barrel for 20-30 years before bottling. Ernst Loosen read about this in 1980 and wanted to experience the tradition himself, so he used one “fuder” barrel of the 1981 Wehlener Sonnenuhr. This wine was bottled in 2008, after 27 years in barrel. This wine was still lively with minerality and delicate acidity perfectly balanced with flavors of peach and lemon. STUNNING !!
