TN: Chester'sAnvil GretnaGreen '12..(short/boring)

In celebration of Steve &Carole’s dodging the fire bullet, I cracked Tues night:

  1. Chester’sAnvil GretnaGreen NapaVlly (StagecoachVnyd; Marsanne/Viognier; 13.8%) 2012: Light gold color; strong earthy/appley/Marsanne bit spicy/nutmeg/applesauce/stewed apples slight Rhonish/austere/stony nose; rather tart/tangy bit stony/Rhonish/earthy rather appley/Marsanne light spicy/nutmeh flavor; very long light stony/earthy/bit Rhonish rather appley/Marsanne bit pear/honeysuckle/peach rather tart/lean/austere finish; speaks mostly of simple Marsanne now but the best is yet to come; needs 5-8 yrs of age yet.

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. Don’t get much Viognier character in this wine, mostly Marsanne. But, w/ age, it should develop some lovely aromatics, I think.
I’ve never been impressed w/ the wines that come off the Ktupp’s StageCoach vnyd. The Chester’sAnvil is one of the best, though.
