Wine List from Ernie's in 1968

Ernie’s was perhaps the epitome of fine dining in San Francisco in the '50s, '60s and into the '70s.

I love links like this. Interesting excerpt from the list:

1962 DRC Romanee Conti for 30 bucks…$216 in todays dollars.

Waiter, we’ll have the '62 DRC La Tache ($25), the '45 Margaux ($45, tied for most expensive on the list), the '55, '59, and '61 Petrus ($35, $35, $30), the '45 and '61 Latour ($45, $30) and the '61 D’Yquem ($15). Eight pretty nice bottles for $260.

Oops, the 1916 Chateau D’Essan (sic) cost $55, which is the most expensive wine on the list.

korbel $8
krug $15
amazing stuff

D’Issan cost more than Latour, seems odd.

Check the vintage dates.

Cue Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time”. Very cool list, right off the typewriter.

Brings back memories of Vertigo, where Jimmy Stewart first lays eyes on Kim Novak. Great scene, great movie.
