TN: 2014 Ramonet Puligny-Montrachet

Recently had this bottle at 21 Boulevard in Beaune – a fantastic restaurant in an old, beautiful building. Some of the best pork that I’ve had in recent memory! Anyway on to the note.

I really love Ramonet. This is so, so young but still really delicious. Very tightly coiled, with youthful energy and a serious streak of minerality. Flinty and citrusy, though there are no hard edges here. The palate has an underlying roundness, rich and full, with notes of stone fruit. This wine has some serious poise – the balance between all of its characteristics is a true testament to Ramonet, and the 2014 vintage. This bottle has a long life ahead of it; the potential here is undeniable.

how was the wine pricing at this restaurant? I’m planning a trip to Burgundy (will be there in a few weeks) and noticed they have a very wide selection of sought after wines in vintages that look as though they are intentionally holding these bottles for ideal consumption (minimal current release on the list). Either that or it hasn’t been updated in 5 years… Any thoughts on 21 Boulevard or the wines/pricing would be much appreciated

a couple of us have been touting the praises of 14 Ramonet—overperforming. Sounds great.

Ramonet made great 14s, as did a number of other producers. 2014 seems like a truly fabulous white Burgundy vintage and Ramonet really hit a home run with the vintage.

It was a very nice meal, and pricing was stellar compared to what I’m used to in the US. Next time I’m in Beaune I will probably return to 21 Boulevard for a meal. And yes, it seemed to me that they had a very well thought out wine list (that as a burghead made my mouth water)

Loved lunch at that place a number of years ago, yum yum. I honestly don’t think I’ve had a single 2014 white that was less than very good. Starting to eclipse 08 and 07 (and good 02) for me. Thanks for the fine note.
