Stylistic preference then. The 04 is my favorite of the three, all of which I love. But I look for acidity and minerality.

We drank one last night, on what was the hottest day in the OC I can remember in at least the last 5-7 years. It drank great, one of the recent disgorgements (10/2015) and it was terrific as usual. We put a NV Mousse Effusion Rose alongside it and they both were a nice complement to each other.

Wow, a twelve day gap on this thread.

Did anyone bite on the '12 Dethune BdB? His rosé is amongst the top Q/P's in the wine world, but I don't know how he's done historically with Chardonnay. I tried to ask for two, but my email server rejected the request with an "unknown error", and I took that as a sign I have enough wine.

Cheers,
Warren

I passed on the Dethune, but asked for a reload on the Chartogne Tallet St Anne that was offered Friday. I love that stuff. No-brainer at the price point.

The comments from Brad Baker on previous vintages are not very promising. My palate matches up pretty well with his so I passed. I did ask for a few of the ‘13 Marc Hebrart Special Club.

This was unequivocally the best buy out of the last few offers. Amazing value for what will be one epic bottle of fizz. Hebrart makes spectacular stuff and his 13 will likely be the best special club of the vintage.

I went over to see the guys and Heaven last Friday and picked up the stuff that just arrived from da boat. Lots of cool things came in....Falmet, Prevost, Vilmart, more Marguet and Mousse. Love these kinds of Fridays....fo sho.

Kyle, let me know what you think of the Vilmart wines as you get going with them. We had a 12 Grand Cellier d'Or last week and while it showed to me some elevated dosage impression, the acidity always seems to reign in things and create a lovely glass of wine.

Frank, thanks for sharing the Mousse a few weeks ago. Boy, did that leave an impression. Also, I'll be opening a Vilmart Grand Cellier NV (2012 base) next week. Saw your positive note on it from your trip to Champagne-- I'm excited!

Anyway, today's deal: 2012 Marc Hebrart Rive Gauche-Rive Droite at $79.99. Uh oh. champagne.gif

Unusually for envoyer, quite a big margin on this one vs cellar door price, so I'm passing it. It's got a 4g/l dosage so it's pretty damn dry too.

Went in for another 2008 Delamotte Champagne Blanc de Blancs Millésimé. Looks like the highest ratings on CT is 1970 and 1964 so guessing these are built to age.

Yes. The only one I've opened was full bodied, full of stone fruit, butterscotch and honeysuckle, had bright acidity, is round and in a somewhat oxidative form which I think is intentional and part of the house style.

Let me know your impressions Neal. We can look at bottle variations, if any, as well as house style. BTW, the 08` is a big wine that has many moons to go for maturity.

I got turned on to Legras once I learned they were the ones that made the house champagnes [NV Brut and Brut Rose] for La Tour d`Argent in Paris. I had both many times and finally asked who made it for them. Those wines were nothing like their releases being spicy, light and elegant.

I have not had the 2008 St. Vincent but very much liked the 1996. The 2002 President was very good but not in the same league as the 1996, IMHO.

Just opted for more of the NV Vilmart Rose Cuvee Rubis. I`ve loved the previous releases and this most likely has more 06` in it, a good year for Pinot Noir.

Hey Blake. I too saw the offer and I still have some from the last offer. If I am reading those back labels correctly, I believe the base on this next batch from Envoyer would logically be from at least base year 2012. This is the base year on the back of the bottles I have here at home right now.

Passing on this offer because I didn't on the prior 3. Love the wine though

Frank Murray III wrote:Hey Blake. I too saw the offer and I still have some from the last offer. If I am reading those back labels correctly, I believe the base on this next batch from Envoyer would logically be from at least base year 2012. This is the base year on the back of the bottles I have here at home right now.
Thanks Frank. 12` seems to be a stellar vintage, so that's good. I mistakenly stated 06` when I was intending 08`, but many are saving most of their 08` for the tete du cuvee as I understand it.

Any thoughts on the Marguet? Wish the Bouzywas a 2012. Haven’t heard great things about ‘13
